Raffle prizes and goodie bags

gift-box1We try to help as many charities and other good causes as we can and receive many requests for raffle prizes and goodie bags. These requests are dealt with through our stores. Please take a printed request on your chosen organisation’s letterhead paper (or if you cannot get the letterhead paper provide the address, charity number if applicable and a contact name and number) with information about the organisation and your fundraising event to your local store and they will be thrilled to help you if they can. Please do give them a call first to check.

To see a list of all our stores and their contact details, please check the Lush stores map on our website.

Before contacting the store, please note that our policy against animal testing not only applies to our products and their ingredients but also to the charities we support.  If you would like a product donation for a medical research/ health charity, please check Animal Aid’s Health Charities and Animal Testing list. We will only support those listed as “do not test on animals”. If your charity is not listed, please ask them to provide a statement regarding their animal testing policy which you can take to the store with you.

honey_waffleWe make all our soap by hand in our factory. So, like all things handmade, sometimes they turn up lovely but not lovely enough to sell them in our shops. We don’t like to see amazing smelling soap in the bin, we would rather it were used for cleaning bodies of people to whom something as simple as soap can make a big difference.

So we have been finding ways of getting the soap into the hands of those who need it most. We have sent over four tonnes of soap to Feed the Children, a charity that sends aid packs to poverty-stricken and war-torn areas of the globe.

feedthechildren1June from Feed the Children said “I just wanted to thank you again for the marvellous support from Lush, it really is greatly appreciated. Quite a bit of the soap has just gone out to Zimbabwe. We haven’t been able to get aid into Zimbabwe for a while but consignments are getting through at this moment in time.”

viva_banner1After the war in Gaza, we also acted quickly and sent one tonne of soap to Viva Palestina, so they could include some of our soap with the rest of the vital supplies they sent to the area. Sally from Viva Palestina sent us an email saying “The soap reached us fine, and on behalf of the convoy, George Galloway and all those caught in the siege in gaza, we would like to say a great thank you to yourself and Lush for their support and very generous donation”.

We also sent some products to the North London Hospice.  Azey wrote to us to say “I would like to thank you for your donation of Lush products that we recently received. Our patients and the nursing team were particularly pleased with your generosity and the products, I have been informed that they are wonderful and smell delicious! They have also been well timed to go in our newly refurbished rooms for the patients!”

If you know a charity or group that could put soap to a good use (overseas aid, hospices, homeless shelters, women’s refuge etc) please email charitypot@lush.co.uk.

    Good Morning,

I am writing to enquire about the possibility of Lush donating a few items to our netball presentation evening on Friday 12th June. We have an annual presentation evening to celebrate the Canterbury and District Netball League and the successes of both Divisions and also the tournaments organised throughout the year. We are proud to announce we have had an increase in the number of teams entering our league this season and our match balls are proudly sponsored by Molten Balls which is excellent coverage for the area and netball as a whole. We would really appreciate it if you could donate anything.

I hope to hear from you soon,

    Kings Regards,

    Kerri Bradley

I am a student at Priestley College in Warrington, Cheshire a BTEC Business course. Within our course we are required to set up a fundraising event and maintain and manage all aspect of the event ourselves. We have decided to do a number of things such as raffle, quizzes, games and much more. The money that we raise on the day will be donated to a local charity which is close to all of our hearts Disability Partnership as a member of our class has been greatly helped by this charity through her disabilities.

We would like to ask if you would be able to contribute anything toward this event in order to make the event a success and raise as much money for the charity as possible we are relying on people’s kind donations and our hard work to give this charity some extra money which they will use to change the lives of so many.

We are currently also in talks with the Warrington Guardian and they are showing an interest in covering the day in their newspaper which will most likely end in your company receiving some positive recognition and promotion.

I understand that you will likely receive many of these kinds of requests but please take ours into consideration as we are all trying to raise money for a good cause whilst gaining experience hands on experience of business in real life. Thank you for your time in reading this and look forward to hearing from you.

wonder if you can help me please. My daughter Hayley who is 20 and in the army as a class one medic, is currently serving in Afghanistan which is her second tour. She has just finished her two week R and R and has returned for a further 5 months. When she was home she said moral was quiet low out there (which you can imagine) and she said it is always nice to receive parcels or goods from family and friends.

The reason for my email was to ask if it is possible for yourselves to send the girls and boys some products, as i know this will make their day when they open it, anything that you could send would be nice and obviously very grateful by all the soldiers, as they only time they get to have the toileteries is when we send them out or they are lucky enough to get back to base to purchase some.

If you can help please email me back andi will forward you her direct address.

Keeping my fingers crossed you may be able to help

  6. I am currently organising a company event week at my place of work, a DHL call centre based in Manchester. Three of my colleagues and I are arranging a carnival week, including such activities as sponge tossing, hook a duck, cake decorating, dressing up as clowns, face-painting, Dress down day etc. It will take place on the last week of August, with most of the activities being held on 28th August.

We are doing this to raise money for the New Children’s Hospital, which integrates Booth Hall and Royal Manchester Children’s hospitals into one hospital at one site creating a child-centred environment appropriate to the needs of children. For more information please go to http://www.newchildrenshospitalappeal.org.uk/new-childrens-hospital

We currently have a very small budget to carry this fun day out and I am appealing to you to see if you can donate any items we can sell or use as prizes for our staff in the activities. In return we can promote your company and brand on the day and get a mention in our Domestic weekly/monthly bulletin. Everything would be greatly received and help us make more money for a great cause.

    I eagerly await your reply

    Regards

    Laura Platt

    Hi there

Join my husband and I for our charity auction on eBay for SOS!

    Why help the orangutans?
Experts predict that orangutans may be extinct in the wild within ten years!

Orangutans are only found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. Deforestation in these regions is continuing at an alarming pace, threatening many endemic and unique species of flora and fauna. The forests are a resource which, used sustainably, could benefit Indonesia for years to come. The degradation or loss of these forests would be an environmental disaster both locally and globally.

To help SOS ensure the conservation of Indonesia’s biodiversity, including the endangered orangutan, please join us in contributing to our charity auction taking place on eBay from 9pm Sunday 25th October to 9pm 1st November 2009.

    What can I give?
In a short answer, anything! Any gift you or your companycould spare would be most appreciated. It could be anything from old to new stock, seconds, or even anything you would like to sell from your own possessions; a perfect way to get rid of those unwanted Christmas presents!
Please be assured that 100% of all profits will go directly to SOS.

    What’s in it for me?
Apart from a fantastic opportunity to help critically endangered orangutans? Your company will be listed whilst we are publicising our event and also credited in an article after! And of course all shoppers on eBay can see the items and will benefit from knowing which companies really do care!

Also, if you would simply like to give a cash donation please visit

Please allow me to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

  8. Hi

We are looking after a big charity fashion event at the end of this month for a new organisation called Fashion For A Good Cause which aims to raise funds for sports-related charities.

It will be held at Newcastle Racecourse and along with the race day guests can enjoy catwalk shows, displaying collections from Cruise, Fenwick and Kate Fearnley (who has had her dresses worn by the likes of Girls Aloud and Sophie Ellis Bextor) and the hat’s of ex Britain’s Next Top Model judge, Louis Marriette.

We are planning on giving guests a goodie bag (it’s going to be quite an upmarket audience!) and we wondered if you would be able to give us some products to include? We’re happy to include any information about Lush in the goodie bags etc. We’re looking for about 300 in all – obviously we’d make sure you get acknowledged for it!

Please feel free to give me a call if you need anything else on 0191 2656111.

    Many thanks

  9. Hi,

My name is Joanne Clarke. I am a family outreach worker based at a Children’s Centre in Eckington. I work with vulnerable families and specifically young mums.

I am starting a young mums group in September and wanted to give gifts to the young women. I am contacting to see if there is any way you could send us some free samples or money off vouchers to use in local stores, as a small gift for the young women.

Most of the women I work with are in receipt of benefit and find it difficult to cope on a low income. Any support or thing you could give would be greatly received.

Please contact me on my work email or phone number.

    Thank you,

    Joanne Clarke

    Dear Sir/Madam

I have recently sent an email to Lush to invite you to our Christmas Fayre this year. I work for South Devon College which has over 4,000 full time students and employees around 700 staff.

The Christmas Fayre at South Devon College is very popular for stall holders as students and staff find it fantastically convenient that Christmas shopping is made easy!

All stall charges go to Friends of South Devon College, the Colleges charity which raises money for students to improve their learning environment, facilities and equipment. I understand Christmas is a very busy time for you and realise you may not have the staff to man a stand, so if I could please ask you to donate a goodie bag or raffle prize we could use these as gift to students involved in our fun and games activities through the Christmas period. We would also promote your products throughout our two day Christmas Fayre.

I do hope you can help and look forward to hearing from you.
    Yours Faithfully

    To whom it may concern,
We are currently students at the University of Salford and we are participating in an assignment called Events Management. For this assignment, we have to plan an event which will take place around Easter time. As a group we have decided to do an event in order to help raise money for the registered charity ‘When you wish upon a star’ (www.whenyouwishuponastar.org.uk). The money raised will go to help children suffering with threatening illness’s and make their dreams come true.

We have decided to host a charity dinner catered by Northcote with entertainment including an auction and raffle, we are aiming for the event to take place at Ewood Park Football Grounds, Blackburn.

We would like to invite your company to set up a small stall inside of our venue to give our guests the chance to see and maybe purchase your items. We would also like to ask whether your company would be willing to gift anything to us that we could auction or raffle off to make more money for the charity.

    Yours Faithfully,
Danielle Maxwell, Simon Barrow, Rhema French, Sarah Caine and Lauren Woodward

    Dear Lush,
I am currently a volunteer on a weekly basis in my local Oxfam store. This year, as in every year, our town is holding a ‘Christmas Cracker’. This is an event where every shop opens late for shopping and there are various activities and prizes for all ages. This year we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to promote not only Oxfam and its ‘Unwrapped’ gift scheme, but also the fair-trade an organic products we sell in our store.
Therefore we would like to ask if your company would be able to provide us with some sample products which we could use either as prizes or ‘Fair-trade gift bags’. We would also be very grateful for any leaflets, fliers or merchandise which could inform our customers of the great work you are doing in advancing Fair-trade for all.
    Many Thanks,
    Sarah Carter

  16. This will be an unusual one for you, i don’t want money, it will not help this cause, my band (Brothers’ Grimmer) are about to release a track that will take the country by storm and all proceedings over the next few months until april next yr will be going to NAS (National Autistic Society) to deal with a little known spectrum of Autism – Aspergers’ Syndrome, there are a great many reasons for doing this and i’d love to talk to you more. If you can do anything to help advertise our campaign that would make a great deal of difference and hopefully increase your profile as a company even further. I have a great passion for what you do at Lush and i would love for this project to enhance awareness of your work as well, whilst this is under way, you could be one of our “supporters”, let me know. By the way, i love what your doing with the palm oil situation, thanks for being such a fantastic company, if there were more companies like Lush the world would be a much better place to live in. Feel free to contact me on gurugrimmer@yahoo.co.uk

  17. TOTTON COLLEGE FUNRAISER

We are students at Totton College studying The Executive Administrator level 3 course, and as part of our course we have to do a team work activity. For this we have decided to raise money for a small village in Kenya called Nakur. Our college have been partnered with this village for over a year and would like to carry on supporting them.

The money we raise will be going towards helping them build a playground and for other facilities they need.

One of the ways we are trying to raise money, is by having a student raffle. We would like to take this opportunity to ask if you would be willing to donate anything for this event.

If you do decide to donate anything for this event we will be truly grateful, and your company would be recognised in our Totton College newsletter.

Thank you very much for your time, we look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours sincerely

    Alison Dowling and Demi-Rose Hounsome
