Before Charity Pot

Charity Pot wasn’t the start of our charity support; we made donations to many organisations before then too. A few of them are listed below.

Environment/ conservation

AXE (Against eXpansion at Eastleigh Airport)
Local residents campaign organisation opposing expansion of Southampton (Eastleigh) Airport, one of the fastest-growing airports in the country where the hated night flights (freight) could double over the coming years.

Dorset Wildlife Trust
Part of a national network of county-based wildlife trusts working to rebuild the diversity of the country’s wildlife.

Climate Outreach & Information Network (COIN)
A UK charity dedicated to educating the public about climate change.

Demand
Local residents campaign organisation opposing expansion of East Midlands Airport, one of the fastest-growing airports in the country where the hated night flights (freight) could double over the coming years.

Group Against Motorway Expansion (GAME)
They are campaigning against the proposed M6 widening through Staffordshire and Cheshire between Cannock and Knutsford. GAME has already campaigned successfully against the Government’s proposal in July 2004 to build a tolled Expressway parallel to the M6, which was finally rejected in July 2006.

HACAN
HACAN Clearskies stands up for all people adversely affected by the increasing number of aircraft flying in and out of Heathrow airport. They are a lively, rational and independent lobbying group which campaigns for quieter, cleaner and safer conditions for residents living under Heathrow’s flight paths.

No Bristol Airport Expansion
The Stop Bristol Airport Expansion alliance is composed of Bristol Friends of the Earth, the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), the Parish Councils Airport Association and other groups and individuals in North Somerset, Bristol and BANES. The coalition has produced 10,000 posters and aims to get these up in house windows, shops and businesses across all the areas affected by this expansion.

No Way! group
Opposing the destructive and unnecessary Shrewsbury North West Relief Road which will destroy huge amounts of countryside around the town, including Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)

No Widening M1
An alliance opposing the widening of the M1 from Luton to Leeds, which will cost the taxpayer £3.7 billion. They are concerned about air pollution, noise and climate change, and believe this huge amount of money could be spent on measures to improve public transport, rather than adding an extra lane to the motorway for it to just fill back up with traffic. Improving local facilities, so people don’t have to travel so far, and encouraging walking and cycling will make our communities healthier and happier, as well as saving the planet.

Save Swallow’s Wood
Fantastic local campaign against a road that goes through the Peak District National Park and a woodland nature reserve. Group are fighting a positive campaign, suggesting sustainable alternatives instead.

Stop Stansted Expansion
Campaigning against proposed expansions to Stansted Airport.

East Timor orphans

They have developed a condition known as Scoliosis and their spines are consequently growing in an S shape, gradually crippling them. Without the operation, they will become very ill.
