Knoxwood Wildlife Rescue

squirrel smallThe main aims of Cumbria based charity Knoxwood Wildlife Rescue is to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured wildlife and to alleviate suffering caused through accident, ignorance or abuse. They also rescue exotic animals that are kept as pets. They promote understanding and compassion of wild animals and discourage people keeping exotic species as pets. They provide sanctuary to those animals unfit to return to the wild or those species that are not native to the UK and therefore cannot be released. They have a no-kill policy.

Initially this is done in their wildlife hospital but as the animals grow they need exercise and space to develop their skills and get used to the weather outside. Knoxwood desperately needed some new all-purpose nursery pens to safely house the orphans while they exercise outside. Their existing enclosures were in a poor state, some of them over 20 years old, and could no longer be used.

Emma at Knoxwood told us “Just to let you know that we have our first babies in the new nursery today! We are so pleased with the new pens, they are safe and waterproof and absolutely perfect for the little ones, have a look at the pictures I have included and you will see how great they are!
